This is an exciting opportunity in Milton Keynes for a Senior Thermal Management & Propagation Engineer.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • You will lead the design and development of battery pack cooling systems in battery electric powertrain systems - critical for maintainingenergy storage capacity, driving range, cell longevity and system safety.

  • Through simulation and physical testing, you will validate the effectiveness of thermal management solutions against specified requirements.

  • You will lead the delivery of cooling system components from specification through to start of production (SOP), managing costs, timescales and validation activities.

  • You will lead the assessment improvement of processes and tools related to thermal and fluid sciences such as GT-Suite, Ansys Fluent or Star CCM .


Skills and Experience Required

  • Understanding of the principles of Heat Transfer – able to interpret and predict the performance of thermal systems, the transfer of thermal energy between elements of a system, and the application of modelling and experimental tools.

  • System Requirements Engineering - uses appropriate tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements; establishes acceptance criteria; tracks the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle; assesses the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources.

  • Product Failure Mode Avoidance - mitigates product failure modes, by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, and other potential failure causes to effectively and efficiently improve product reliability.

  • Manages complexity - making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Bachelors degree in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline

  • OR equivalent vocational experience in a relevant Thermal modelling field.

Compensation and Benefits

In return we can offer a base salary of £38-46,000 (dependent on experience).
