Placement - Customer Support Engineer (Electrified Power)


The successful candidate will work within the Electrified Power Business Unit - Customer Support Organisation based within the Milton Keynes Battery Technical Centre. The role provides for development of Customer Support deliverables to enable aftermarket support and diagnostic of Battery Systems and direct technical support to Cummins distribution channel as required.

  • Provide technical direction for hard to diagnose performance problems

  • Investigate emerging product issues and complete problem definition work

  • Investigate and report on major product failures

  • Support training activities including making and delivering training material

  • Develop temporary solutions to extend customer up time

  • Develop and utilize Remote Support technologies to engage in end customer issues quickly.


We are looking for a student with an interest in electrification and/or engines and preferably having some practical experience of working in the automotive field (whether hobby or employment). Studying for a technical degree in any of the following fields:

  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

  • Motorsport Engineering

  • Automotive Engineering

  • Degrees relating to Electric Transportation

  • Systems Engineering

Other Engineering Degrees are also considered.

It would be desirable for candidates to have a second language, at intermediate or fluent level.

During the placement a mentor will be provided and they will provide regular coaching throughout the 12 months.The role will also work closely with other engineers.Product safety and familiarisation training will be provided. Access to, and training in, the use of industry standard tools for analysing data and material will also be given.Student membership of the IMechE will also be supported.
