Engine Test Systems Technical Administrator

Description

We are looking for a talented Systems Developer/Administrator to manage & develop the automated control systems on our engine-based turbocharger test facilities in Huddersfield.

Working in a world-class automotive testing environment you will liaise with our engineering teams to develop the capability of our test facilities. You will also collaborate with our test technicians to ensure our control system meets our test requirements. You will perform first-line support for the control system with the backup of a global leader in automated test technologies.

This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 7.30am – 3.30pm

Salary starts at £25,700 - £35,300 depending on experience.

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Design and develop AVL Puma user-level software to meet stakeholder requirements whilst maintaining data quality, system integrity and usability.

  • Work with engineering teams to interpret test requirements and ensure our test & data acquisition environment is configured & managed to deliver consistent results.

  • Work with our supplier to ensure our systems are up-to-date, healthy, and fit for purpose.

  • Manage the integration of third-party calibration tools (e.g. ATI Vision) into the control system.

  • Act as first line support for breakdown issues relating to or involving the AVL Puma control system, working with multi-discipline colleagues and our supplier to see faults through to resolution.

  • Continue to develop knowledge of Puma and associated systems through formal and informal learning.

  • Create, share and update documentation relating to the operation of Puma test beds. Proactively share knowledge with global sites to ensure consistency of systems.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will need the following:

  • Experience of automation systems, preferably in the automotive sector. Knowledge of AVL’s Puma automation control system is advantageous but not essential, and training will be provided for the successful candidate.

  • Experience of working in a product development test environment.

  • Demonstrable fault-finding skills and a systematic way of working.

  • An interest in and/or knowledge of engines or turbochargers would be an advantage.
