Aerodynamics Engineer


We are looking for an Aerodynamics Engineer to improve our predictive capability for the aerodynamic performance and behaviour of turbochargers and consequently drive simulation improvement for better product outcomes and reduced rework.

This role is a “hybrid” one affiliated with our Cummins Turbo Technologies Technical Centre in Huddersfield, UK. Flexibly, it is anticipated that 1-3 working days per week would be spent on site and correspondingly 2-4 working days per working week from home.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways;

  • To lead method development in the area of turbocharger CFD.

  • To contribute as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in turbocharger aerodynamics with stakeholder groups (such as Subsystems, Lab. Ops. and Advanced Engineering) and to co-ordinate internal and external activities developing new capability.

  • To develop workflows for adoption in component design and analysis groups within the technical function.

  • Whilst this role is primarily in the simulation space, it also requires an awareness of test capabilities and product development needs.

  • To deliver independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology and product knowledge.

  • To make decisions on short term project details, such as conducting analysis, testing, and communication with stakeholders that impact and support the successful progression of projects.


  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for high speed rotating machinery.

  • Workflow and script development (e.g. Python/ Perl/ Matlab/ Shell).

  • Relevant turbomachinery design experience such as: turbochargers, gas turbines or centrifugal pumps.
