We run an exciting 12 month placement where you are given an opportunity to work on real projects making a difference in both your team and the company as a whole. You will receive on the job training and take part in a structured Training & Development Programme designed to give the skills and competencies required for future graduate roles.


  • Assists in creating design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

  • Create and manage timing plans, procurement of parts & completion of prototype builds

  • Component evaluation including analysis of test & teardown data

  • Document investigations and conclusions in technical reports and release new engine hardware

  • Participate in and lead meetings with cross-functional groups and worldwide suppliers

  • Design Review participation and present project updates

  • Specific projects may include: Customer requirements for new engine hardware, investigation and resolution of field failures, validation of component suppliers



  • Self-motivated and able to manage own projects

  • Attention to detail

  • Good presentation and communication skills

  • Practical approach to support technical investigation and evaluation

  • A sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and calculations, and ability to apply them

  • Interest in and awareness of internal combustion engines and engine components beneficial

Education Background:

Studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent degree in an Engineering or related discipline. Mechanical/Automotive Engineering would be an asset.

The following training will be provided:

  • 4 x 1 day workshops through an external training provider: Adapting to Professional Environments, Effective Communication and Presentation Skills, Team Work, Customer Care

  • Internal Placement and Graduate Networks

  • IMechE mentor to support working towards professional status via MPDS scheme

  • Training in role specific tools and skills as appropriate

  • Familiarisation and working with established departmental practices and procedures
