This is an exciting opportunity in Daventry, UK for an Applied Mechanics Engineer.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • By planning, conducting and reporting on experiments via both third party and in-house tools to determine structural performance of components and systems

  • By measuring operational deflection shapes during machine operation to determine modal frequencies and their amplitudes

  • By providing oversight for strain gauge placement, data reduction and interpretation.

  • By the fatigue testing of components including setting up of test fixtures for components to test durability against service life requirements

  • Through working collaboratively with customers to design fixtures in order to test specific components with respect to wear, fatigue, fretting, and overload

  • By working collaboratively internally with the Design, Thermal Sciences, Materials and Product Validation groups

Qualifications

* Skills and Experience Required *

  • You will have some experience planning and executing tests / experiments on diesel engines previously.

  • You will have an understanding of the following principles and their effect on engines;Fatigue and Durability, Noise and Acoustics, Dynamics and Vibration

  • You will be comfortable in a practical environment around engines.

  • You will have a mix of experience using Matlab, LabVIEW, nCode, Siemens and Test.Lab.

* Education, Licenses, Certifications*

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
