Electrics, Electronics and Controls Technical Specialist

Description

We are seeking an Electrics, Electronics and Controls Technical Specialist - to join Cummins Engine Business Segment based in Darlington, to manage the release of software builds for all engines developed in Europe.

The position is classed as hybrid, and you will be required on site 50% of the week.

You will make an impact in the following ways and other ways:

This product focused position tailors electronic systems for Cummins products:

  • Lead the development and release of engine software calibration to support customer, legal and business requirements.

  • Lead the validation and verification of the engine calibration through simulation, bench and vehicle testing including but not limited to customer features, datalinks, cybersecurity, functional safety and diagnostics.

  • Lead Electrical , Electronics and Controls discussions with OEM

  • Translate customer requirements into hardware, software and calibration deliverables for the technical teams.

  • Lead and support problem solving initiatives to provide resolution for engine control system /feature issues and recommend appropriate actions

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Skills:

  • System Requirements Engineering - Uses appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements.

  • Product Verification and Validation Management - Develops product systems validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes, while managing product risk and relative priority;

  • Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis - Impacts product design decisions through the utilization and/or interpretation of computational tools and methods that predict the capability of a product's function relative to its system, sub-system and/or component level requirements.

  • Product Problem Solving - Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.

  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

  • Experience of working in an Automotive/ Marine/ Aerospace or Military industry

Experience:

  • Proven Project Management experience of software and calibration delivery project’s

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Desire to work in the next generation engine controls development, previous experience with engine controls and/or performance and diagnostics, good understanding of the related failure modes technical VPI deliverables.

  • Awareness of functional safety, cybersecurity and Autosar

Compensation and Benefits:

  • £44,800.00 - £67,200.00 depending on experience
