This is an exciting opportunity in the Daventry Technical Centre for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the business as a Principal Mechanical Engineer

Cummins UK is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects supporting both future and current engine and generator set projects primarily in the 38-91 litre range using both Diesel and Gas fuel systems

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • By applying your specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the design, development, analysis and release of products and subsystems through the product life cycle.

  • You will create design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

  • You will verify component and system capability designs using analysis and or functional testing, interpret results, drive decisions and assess risks.

  • You will work with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional teams to resolve product issues.

  • You will lead and provide technical direction to project teams

  • Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

Skills and ExperienceRequired:

  • Considerable level of relevant relevant mechanical or design engineering work experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or an individual complex component of a project.

  • Experience with Diesel and Gas engine systems preferred but not essential

  • As an experienced mechanical engineer you will have experience in the following;

o Product Integration, Verification & Validation

o Systems Definition and Design

o Project Management

o Cross-Functional Design Review

o Integrated Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (IDFMEA)

o 7 Step Product Problem Solving Process

o Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)

o Component failure analysis and solution development

RequiredEducation, Licenses or Certifications

  • PhD, Masters, Bachelors or equivalent degree in engineering required
